Anne Marie Nugent Edmonds papers, circa 1890-1955 (bulk circa 1890-1910).

Papers consist of seven short literary manuscripts whose topics focus on the Old South and were based upon Edmond's own experiences before, during, and after the Civil War. "Hazards of New Fortunes" and "A Successful Runaway" are handwritten and were most likely penned while she lived in Mississippi. "Banshee of the Stoddards," "How Elder Bolivar Elected Himself," "Aunt Sally's Victory," and "Uncle Bill as a Labor Agent" are typescripts written for submission to a publisher, giving word count and a return address. There is also a typed excerpt from "Reminiscence, 1832, On a Louisiana Plantation" that centers on the author's grandfather, Judge Seth Lewis, and gives some family history as well as an examination of local customs. Also includes two typed copies of Edmond's family history. Some of the information is questionable regarding accuracy. Also a 1955? news clipping that includes text from "Reminiscence, 1832, On a Louisiana Plantation."
